Santiago del Teide

The Teide National Park covers a small section, in the far east of the borough, including the slopes of the Pico Viejo stratovolcano. There is then an extensive area that comes within the Corona Forestal Nature Park, with a series of associated volcanoes and badlands, that form part of the Abeque summit, which is where the historic Chinyero eruption took place in 1908. Both the flora and the fauna are also of scientific interest.

The Teno Rural Park combines the rugged relief of this old massif - a refuge for many rare endemic plants and animals, with the spectacular landscape that includes the impressive cliffs of the coast.

There are also interesting spots to visit down on the coast, with a recreation area at the entrance to the town of Santiago del Teide.
