Granadilla de Abona

The Corona Forestal Nature Park covers a large area of the borough's mountains. This is an area of geomorphological, botanic and wild life interest that includes such special areas as the Paisaje Lunar (Lunar Landscape).

Montaña Roja and Montaña Pelada protected areas are down on the coast.

The former is a volcanic cone that has been turned into a cliff by erosion from the sea. It is framed by El Médano and La Tejita beaches. It is classed as an area of geomorphological, botanical and ornithological interest.

Montaña Pelada, on the other hand, is a volcanic structure that has emerged in contact with the sea, creating a cone that is broader than it is high. It is a characteristically light colour, and shows many aspects of volcanic activity.

The Montaña de Ifara and the Riscos natural areas are sub-recent cones of volcanic interest.

Other protected areas include Los Derriscaderos, Montaña de Las Coloradas and El Rio ravine.
