Arona

Montaña de Guaza is a protected natural area which is an excellent example of extrusive dome with lava flow. This is a large volcanic edifice, with a lava flow, formed from highly viscous (acid) magma, meaning that the lava can not flow far.

El Roque de Jama, on the other hand, is an intrusive dome, a tower of phonolyte formed below the surface that has been exposed by erosion. It is the largest of these volcanic edifices in Tenerife. It also holds interesting endemic plant species. There is a broad view of the San Lorenzo valley and a large sector of this part of the island, from the La Centinela look out point.

The coastal sector still conserves interesting natural areas, although building developments have unfortunately swallowed up the El Guincho salt flats.

The Malpais de la Rasca and Montaña Amarilla are sites of significant natural value.
