"Casa las Miquelas" Pottery Museum in Candelaria

The "Casa las Miquelas" Pottery Centre in Candelaria is located in Santa Ana, one of the most important pottery centres in the municipality. The reason behind this pottery museum in Candelaria derives from the importance of this activity in the municipality's history, and its main aim is to preserve, maintain and promote the pottery trade and its associated lifestyle.
This visitor centre has three different areas so that visitors understand the importance of pottery in the town of Candelaria, learning to value and appreciate this
traditional profession. The first room is dedicated to presenting traditional pottery work, with the aid of audiovisual media as well as information panels and
photographs. In the second room, hand-crafted items which have survived to the present day are displayed, highlighting the main characteristics of the traditional Candelaria pots. Finally, there is a workshop, where visitors can appreciate the full work process before their very eyes, and buy pots just as they were made in the past, as well as other new creations, but inspired by the traditional style.
One of the main activities geared towards the dissemination and appreciation of this trade are the local courses in traditional pottery offered by the Rural
Development Council.
Another of the activities are the group visits to the Pottery Centre (tel: 922 505 216).
